Government Treasury
Making complex government finance feel clear, controlled and intuitive.
Associate UI/UX Designer
The challenge
Complex financial workflows were slowing down critical government operations.
Government finance teams relied on a legacy platform where approvals, payments and reporting involved fragmented workflows, multiple user roles and strict governance requirements. The challenge was to simplify the experience without compromising security, compliance or audit traceability.
- +28%Task flow efficiency
- −35%Approval-related errors
- −24%Task completion time
Research
I worked with treasury stakeholders and the wider project team to understand how financial tasks were completed, where existing workflows created friction and which governance requirements needed to remain intact.
- Stakeholder interviews across key finance workflows
- End-to-end mapping of approvals, payments and reporting
- Analysis of roles, permissions and audit requirements

Process
We translated complex operational processes into clear user journeys, mapped dependencies across roles and progressively moved from workflows to wireframes and validated interface designs.
Each stage was reviewed with stakeholders, tested against real treasury scenarios and refined before engineering handoff.
Research → Workflow mapping → Wireframing → Validation → UI design → Developer handoff

Design
A clearer visual hierarchy, consistent interaction patterns and role-aware experiences helped users understand what action was required, what came next and who owned each step.
Desktop and mobile experiences were designed to support high-volume financial workflows while maintaining consistency, scalability and compliance.
Workflow → Wireframe → Final UI

Results & reflection
The redesigned experience turned complex financial processes into clearer, validated workflows ready for engineering delivery.
The biggest lesson: enterprise design is built on alignment. Bringing user needs, operational requirements and governance together early made it possible to simplify the experience without simplifying the controls that government finance depends on.
